In-Home Care

In-Home Care

In our region, as in the nation,  in-home care is in demand and that demand has created a whole new service industry focused on providing health care and related services to those desiring to remain living at home.  In-home services can range from the provision of medical treatment in the home, such as in the case of hospice care,  to services which include personal care and companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, running errands and reminders for medications.

  • In-home care can include assistance to the patient in managing the Activities of Daily Living (ADL). These include the six activities of bathing, dressing, transferring, using the toilet, eating and walking. An assessment will generally be done by a home care agency to determine which of these activities the patient will need assistance with.

  • In-home care can also include the provision of medical services in the home. These professional home health services can include wound care, pain management, physical therapy, speech therapy among many others. This professional medical care provided at home can be especially important to patients with life-ending diseases and those recovering from surgeries and accidents.
